The Marriage of Old and New

Renovating one of Townsville's classic homesteads was always going to be a challenge. As it happened, it was one that turned into an award winning feat of workmanship.

Built in 1939, the original home was on 1.6 hectares and surrounded by tropical forest and gardens.

The original single story house was extended to include a downstairs living area and laundry, as well as decks backing onto the property's pond.

Extensions also included adding a second story with bedrooms and a bathroom that impressed the judges so much, it was awarded the coveted QMBA Best Bathroom Award.

An Award Winning Bathroom

The bathroom follows modern design with polished tiles and Tasmanian oak joinery.

Workmanship in the blending of the extensions and the second story also impressed the judges and the project won the Award for the Renovations and Remodeling Project over $250,000.
